This year’s Karaoke was different from almost all the previous ones – after nine years, we are moving to the new venue and with the move came a lot of changes: we no longer have the whole building only to ourselves, but we again have more space for all our activities and a bigger main hall where more of us can easily fit. After years of shrinking space in Sokolovna Řepy, Winter Karaoke moves to the place where ponies in the Czech Republic appeared on the convention scene for the first time on a larger scale: the FanCity in the autumn of 2012 is still remembered as one of the conventions that led to the birth of the next important events.
But the past was enough – the present will not wait, so despite the occasional adjustments on the spot, the 11th Winter Karaoke went smoothly and everypony had a lot of fun!
The world seems to be changing before our eyes faster than ever before, so even our traditional pre-Christmas meetup is coming changes. After the Winter Karaoke held online and the last year limited to 100 participants, we are changing the venue: we are moving from Sokolovna Řepy to KC Novodvorská, where we have more space for all our activities. Another change is the duration of the event: this time we will not stay until late at night.
We will do everything that we can to be able to meet in person again during Christmas time and to enjoy time together with everything that belongs to pony fun. Everyone is welcome, whether you want to meet with your friends from Czequestria (or any other convention) or you want to experience the first-ever pony meetup to explore what pony fun looks like. Winter Karaoke party trots on.
December is knocking on the door and so do our traditional meeting before Christmas, which has been held regularly since 2012 – the Winter Karaoke Party. Since year two, it has been held in Sokolovná Řepy, where, however, the space for our activities has been noticeably reduced in recent years.
This year’s edition will take place in a new venue: KC Novodvorská (Prague 4). In a way, it is a return to the beginnings of the CZ/SK bronies fandom: in 2012 (even before the first Winter Karaoke Party), a con called FanCity took place there. Where – in addition to lectures and workshops on the topic of MLP – we made a lot of plans for the event’s future brony events.
Libuše was recently on a visit there and is already looking forward to meeting you again!
December is rapidly approaching, and so are all the questions about if, where, when and how our Karaoke party (aka Conaoke) will look this year.
Rest assured, we’re working on it! The plan is to meet in person again, although in a new location which will be announced very soon. Any limitations that might be in place will be clarified before the event – while we’re hoping for none, it’s not only up to us.
